When you leave on vacation, there are lots of things you check, right? Is the oven off, is the coffee pot off, will the neighbor feed the dog, etc. But I’ve never thought as I walk out the door that I should check to see if the toilet is running. An 82-year-old man in Colorado left for two months, then came home to a $1,200 bill from the water department. Seems he had a running toilet all that time. An anonymous donor payed $790 of the bill, and the city forgave the rest, since they didn’t notify him when his water usage was so much higher than normal.
